William Cooper Wood was born to Isaac H. Wood and Elizabeth H. Cooper in Haddonfield, New Jersey, in 1835. Wood entered Haverford's Introductory Department in 1851 and left in 1853, after two years. After leaving Haverford, Wood became a farmer. In 1864, he married Rebecca Wills and together the couple had six children. Wood would later marry again on October 3, 1894, to Laura Cooper an have another child. Wood died on March 26, 1918, in Mooretown, New Jersey.
The William Cooper Wood autograph album features the names and addresses of several students who attended Haverford College during the Winter Session of 1851-1852. Signing students provide their name in addition to their specific home address and/or hometown/county.

The William Cooper Wood autograph album was donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in February, 1932 by Henrietta Cooper Wood.
