Overview and metadata sections

Arthur H. Cleveland Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 20, 1897, to Arthur Horton Cleveland and Ethelwyn Morrill Atwater. He graduated from the Moses Brown School in 1914 and entered Haverford College in the same year. He served in the Naval Reserve from 1918 to 1922, and was aboard the USS Buena Vista when it was sunk by a German U-Boat. Cleveland began farming in 1919. He married Arabella Burns Clark on June 25, 1936. He inherited La Fayette Headquarters from his father and sold it to the Pennsylvania Commonwealth. Cleveland died on January 12, 1950, in Chadds Ford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

The front of the scrapbook contains a printing of "The Sinking of the Buena Ventura," which details Cleveland's experience just before boarding and after the sinking of the USS Buena Ventura. The printing also includes Cleveland's letter to the Haverford College class of 1918 regarding his experience following the sinking of the USS Buena Ventura. The scrapbook pages feature various materials pertaining to Haverford class events, traditions, club activities, and sports materials for football, track, and gymnastics. Throughout the scrapbook, there are pictures of Founders, Roberts, Barclay, the Library and Garden, College Lane, the interior of Founders Hall, and students walking across campus. The album also features a substantial amount of programs and ticket stubs for various plays, musicals, and orchestral performances that Horton attended. The back of the scrapbook features materials related to the Moses Brown School, including a graduation pamphlet and pictures of a trip to Matunuck. The end of the scrapbook contains signatures, dates, and quotes from miscellaneous Haverford student and a collection of class of 1918 class letters.

Materials are arranged chronologically (except Moses Brown School documentation in back).
