This collection contains autobiographical short stories as well as fragments of incomplete stories. Many of the stories are self-titled, and some contain explanatory details revealing the premise behind them. The vast majority of written exploits have to do with sailing and Snyder's time on "The Edith," his boat and the name of his wife. An ealier text titled "Catboats of New Haven" details Snyder's first foray into sailing during a course at Yale, which he described as his favorite. Subsequent stories go into detail about Snyder's travels along the east coast, describing the variety of situations which the sailor found himself in. Snyder is often joined by his wife (also an avid sailor) on his voyages, while also bringing along friends for daytrips. All of the materials are undated.
This collection features typed versions of many of Edward D. Snyder's short stories along with correspondence between Snyder and various friends regarding an autobiography. Nearly all of the stories are maritime-themed, with many taking place on Snyder's boat, "The Edith." Correspondents include Franklyn B. Snyder, Phillip G. Clifford, Harrison Smith, Charles H. Schneer, and The New Yorker. Also included is a draft for a table of contents and five photographs of a field, Roberts Hall, Haverford Library, a sailboat and an interior view of the library.
