Overview and metadata sections

The Neometha Bathing Society was a Society on Haverford's campus during the 1870s. The Society collected membership dues from all prospective applicants and, as members of the Society, individuals paid monetary fees or participated in manual labor. These efforts at fundraising and labor were put towards the construction of "Julia's Bath," a private swimming area for Neometha's members. In the 1870s, Juila's Bath was renamed "Balmae Julianae" by vote of the Society's members. In the late 1870s, the Society removed all membership fees for Neometha.

The collection includes financial and logistical information on the construction and maintainence of "Julia's Bath", an area for the society's members to swim, and on the Society's financial records, elections, and major projects.

Materials are organized into two folders. The first folder contains a bound volume of Society election information, minutes, and financial information. The second folder contains receipts from supply purchases and payment for manual labor.

The Neometha Bathing Society records were donated to The Library of Haverford College in June, 1930 by "The Society."
