The guide was published by a cooperative group of students from Bryn Mawr and Haverford College--some members of student government groups, some not--to be distributed to incoming first-year and returning students at both colleges.

This publication is a student guide put together by Haverford and Bryn Mawr College students to orient incoming first-year students to college. The guide includes information on the honor code, Quakerism, academics, dorm life, and campus life. This collection includes two copies of a guide featuring the seals of Bryn Mawr and Haverford College and one copy of a guide featuring a line drawing of the individuals from in Grant Wood's "American Gothic."

The copy of the "Compleat Guide to Personal Happiness and Social Success in the Bi-College Community" with the figures from Grant Wood's "American Gothic" was a gift of Pat Welch, Haverford College Class of 1974, June 2024.
