Joanne V. Creighton served as interim president of Haverford College from 2011 to 2013. She was previously president of Mount Holyoke College from 1996 to 2010, where she oversaw expansion of the faculty and improvement of facilities. Prior to her time at Mount Holyoke, Creighton had also served as vice president for academic affairs and provost and professor of English and then interim president at Wesleyan University, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and a professor of English at Wayne State University. Creighton holds a bachelor's from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master's in teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Michigan.
