John Comly (1773-) was born in Byberry, Pennsylvania, on November 19, 1773, the son of Isaac Comly and Asenath Hampton. He married Rebecca Budd in 1803, and the couple had five children: Stacy (1805-?), Ann (1806-1872), Charles (1808-1894), Sarah (1810-1903), and Emmor (1811-1889). He died on August 17, 1850.

This collection is comprised of the single typed volume entitled "John Comly and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, 1827-1828." The manuscript was copied from the original by one of Comly's grandsons. The original manuscript was written for "Rupp's History of the Religious Denominations of the United States" in Byberry Friends' Library.
