Overview and metadata sections

Douglas Hamilton Heath (1925-) was born October 1, 1925, the son of Russell Manson Heath and Eleanor Conrow Heath. He is a psychologist who worked for many years at Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania.

This collection is comprised of the manuscript and proof of Douglas Heath's "Growing up in College: Liberal Education and Maturity." The book expands upon Heath's work, "Explorations of Maturity," and studies a small group of young men at a single college using the "theory of maturity." The book aims to assist educators to clarify the goals of liberal education, and to explore what types of environmental determinants affect healthy development in young adults.
