Mary Rhoads Haines (1818-1905) was born in 1818, in Springfield, Pennsylvania. She married William Ellis Haines, a Philadelphia doctor, in 1841. The couple had one child, Hannah, in 1845. William Haines died a year later. Mary Rhoads Haines taught in Quaker schools in Philadelphia and Westtown after the death of her husband.
This collection is comprised of the single volume signature album of Mary R. Haines. The album is comprised of signatures from Quaker friends, some accompanied by quotes.
The Mary R. Haines signature album was donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in 1951 by Henry S. Williams.
