Thomas Fisher (1801-1856) was born January 21, 1801, the son of Samuel Rowland Fisher and Hannah Rodman Fisher. Fisher was a Quaker poet, a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, and the author of two books: 'Dial of the Seasons, or a Portraiture of Nature,' and 'Mathematics Simplified and Made Attractive.' Fisher died on February 12, 1856, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This collection is comprised of the single volume signature album of Thomas Fisher. The note on the inside cover reads: "The undersigned have examined Mr. Thomas Fisher's Diagrams for Generalizing and Simplifying Mathematical Principles; and believing them to be Novel and useful, subscribe in order to promote their publication." At the back of the volume there is a facsimile list of subscription to the Nonimportation Resolutions.
