Joseph S. Elkinton (1830-1905) was born April 27, 1830, to Quakers Joseph Elkinton and Mary Nutt Elkinton. He married Malinda Patterson on September 3, 1856, and the couple had five children: Mary Patterson Elkinton (b. 1857), Joseph Elkinton (b. 1859), William Tilman Elkinton (b. 1860), Alfred Cope Elkinton (1863), and Thomas Elkinton (b. 1867). Joseph S. Elkington died May 18, 1905.
This collection is comprised of the single volume scrapbook of Joseph Elkington and includes elegies, extracts of Quaker testimonies, extracts from Quaker letters, and 581 obituary notices.
The Joseph S. Elkinton scrapbook was donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in 1934 by Eleanor Elkinton.
