James A Babbitt (1869-?) was a Philadelphia area physician, chairman of the Central Board of Football officials, and a member of the Intercollegiate Football Rules Committee. Babbitt (b. 1897), Helen A. Babbitt (b. 1900), and Mary A. Babbitt (b. 1912). Babbitt received his bachelor's at Yale University, and his master's at Haverford College. Babbitt was a physician at the German Hospital, an assistant instructor in otology at the University of Pennsylvania, a laryngologist at the Children's Hospital, and a professor of hygiene and physical education at Haverford College. As part of his relief work in France during and after World War I, Babbitt lead 54 members of the American Friends Reconstruction Unit No. 1, part of the Anglo-American Mission of Friends under the umbrella of the Red Cross.
