Richard Smith (1699-1751) was born July 5, 1699, in Burlington, New Jersey, the son of Samuel Smith and Elizabeth Lovett. He married Abigail Rapier in August of 1719, and the couple had one child, John Smith (1722-1771). Smith married Jane Kirkbridge in 1741, after the death of his first wife. He died in November of 1751, in Berth Amboy, New Jersey.

John Smith (1722-1771) was born in Burlington, New Jersey, on January 20, 1771, the son of Richard Smith and Abigail Rapier. He married Hannah Logan on October 7, 1748, in Germantown, Pennsylvania, and the couple had four children: Sarah Logan Smith (1749), James Smith (1750), Hannah Smith (1753), and John Smith (1761). Smith died on March 26, 1771, in Burlington, New Jersey.

This collection is comprised of the single volume commonplace book featuring writings from the Smith family.
