Mary Sutton (Underhill) Wood (1805-1894) was an author and poet. She was born on September 25, 1805, the daughter of Joshua Underhill and Mary Sutton. In 1835, Mary Underhill married William Wood, a printer and clerk of the New York Yearly Meeting. The couple had one child, Elizabeth Underhill Wood. She died on April 27, 1894.

This collection is comprised of the single volume commonplace book of Mary S. Wood. It includes reflections on Baltimore Yearly Meeting, the history of the Wood family, the opening of Western Yearly Meeting (1858), journal entries, Canada Yearly Meeting (1867), the Gale of 1821, New York Yearly Meeting (1865), New York Representative Meeting (1876), description of Meeting Houses in New York, London Yearly Meeting, letter from Josiah Forster, extracts of letters, hymns, China plate patterns, the Quaker Hat, and clippings of New York fashions (1880).
