Thomas Fisher (1801-1856) was born January 21, 1801, the son of Samuel Rowland Fisher and Hannah Rodman Fisher. Fisher was a Quaker poet, a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, and the author of two books: 'Dial of the Seasons, or a Portraiture of Nature' and 'Mathematics Simplified and Made Attractive.' Fisher died on February 12, 1856, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This collection is comprised of the single volume commonplace book of Thomas Fisher. It includes poetry, copies of letters, and extracts.
