Elizabeth Reeve Evans (1830-1906) was born on July 4, 1830, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to William and Elizabeth Evans, both Quakers. Elizabeth never married, and lived with her sister, Hannah Evans, until her death in 1906, at the age of 76.
This collection is comprised of seven volumes of the handwritten diaries of Elizabeth Reeve Evans. Diary entries describe social calls, the health of family and friends, the weather, Quaker meetings, and births, deaths, and marriages within the Quaker community.
The Elizabeth Reeve Evans diaries were donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in 1952 by Susanna Smedley.
