Overview and metadata sections

The Bettles were prominent 19th century Quaker merchants in Philadelphia. Samuel Bettle, Sr., was Clerk of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting at the time of the Separation in 1827. His son, Samuel Bettle, Jr., was also a Quaker minister.

This collection contains letters written to Samuel Bettle and "Mrs. Bettle," whose first name is not included within the collection. The letters are written by a variety of friends of the Bettles.

This collection is arranged in a single folder.

The Bettle Family materials were donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in 1992 by Susan Stuard.
