Charles Caleb Cresson was born on January 27, 1816, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Caleb and Sarah Enlen Cresson. He studied medicine, but did not practice. He never married. Cresson died on January 9, 1902, in Germantown, Philadelphia.

This collection is comprised of the two letters of the personal correspondence of Charles C. Cresson.
