The Bettle family were prominent 19th century Quaker merchants in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Samuel Bettle, Sr., was Clerk of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting at the time of the Separation in 1827. His son, Samuel Bettle, Jr., was also a Quaker minister.

Mary Bettle (1833-1912) was born on November 30th, 1833, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Samuel Bettle Jr. and Mary Ann Bettle. She was a member of the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. Mary Bettle died on October 21, 1912.

This collection is comprised of three folders of the personal correspondence of Elizabeth, Mary, and Samuel Bettle.
