Overview and metadata sections
The Ramallah Friends Meetinghouse was originally built in 1910, after a Quaker community had been active since the late 1800s. The meeting holds unprogrammed worship each week. The Meetinghouse fell into disrepair in the 1990s, and was further damaged in 2003 during the Second Intifada. A group was formed to raised funds to repair the building, which finished in 2004. The Philadelphia Yearly Meeting financially supported Friends International Center, Ramallah until 2007 when they received 501(c)3 status. The organization has since changed names to Friends of Ramallah Friends Meeting (Quakers).
This collection relates to the Ramallah Friends Meeting and Friends International Center in Ramallah, Palestine. The majority of the collection is dated between 2002 and 2014, and pertains to renewing the Ramallah Friends Meetinghouse and transforming it into a Friends Center.
