Overview and metadata sections
This collection contains Dr. Rose Faithe's research for a book on the history of women in medicine from 1800 to the present (1975). There are copies of her letter requesting information from individual libraries and organizations from around the country and their responses. She has organized her responses in a state-by-state envelope system. These envelopes contain some photocopies of newspaper clippings or articles regarding some of the women doctors she was researching as well as response letters from the librarians. Dr. Faithe asked for a very large amount of information from each library and most were not able to fill her request due to the lack of time and money. Some valuable reprinted information on specific woman doctors will be found in this collection. Knowing the state in which the doctor worked would help in a search.
