Russian-born pianist and composer Abram Chasins studied piano at Curtis under Josef Hofmann from 1926 to 1934 while simultaneously teaching elementary piano from 1927 to 1934. He was associated with the WQXR radio station in New York from 1941 to 1965, serving as the station's director from 1946.
