Thomas Bates Anderson, Hanover County, Va., physician, was born on 14 Jan. 1792; he died on 3 May 1871. Anderson received an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1811, served in the War of 1812, and had fourteen children, including physician L. B. Anderson.
Ledger documenting medical practice of Thomas B. Anderson in Hanover and Caroline counties, Va., 1842-1843; some accounts settled as late as 1845. Lists patients, occupation, reason for visit, prescriptions, and settlement of accounts. Includes daybook, 1843 Jan. 1-Mar. 11. Several patients were slaves and plantation overseers.
