Joseph Coates, Downingtown, Pa., physician, was born on 12 Jan. 1794. He received an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1815; his thesis was on typhus fever. Coates married Ann (Jones) Roberts in 1822 and died on 24 Jan. 1832.
