John Wallis Brooks, English surgeon, was born on 25 July 1762. He died during a yellow fever epidemic in New York in the early 19th century.

Notes taken by J. W. Brooks on lectures, numbered 1-9 on surgery and 1-2 on bandaging, delivered by Henry Cline, possibly at St. Thomas' Hospital, London, circa 1780. Subjects include sutures and surgical procedures for tumors of breast and hernias.

Presented by R. D. Mackinnon to Library of Temple University Medical School, 23 Aug. 1944. Mackinnon received volume from Albert F. Morrison (b. 1862), great-grandson of J. W. Brooks.
