Henry Howard Whitehouse, New York dermatologist, was born in Hartford, Conn., on 6 Apr. 1864. He married Lillian Van Winkle (d. 1930) in 1893; they had one son, Irving Percival. Whitehouse married Carolyn Harding Beebe in 1932. He died in Mystic, Conn., on 24 Aug. 1938. Whitehouse received a Ph.B. from the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale University in 1885. He did some postgraduate research with R. H. Chittenden and then attended Columbia University, receiving an M.D. in 1889. He practiced in New York. Whitehouse was an instructor at the Cornell University Medical College, on the staff of the New York Skin and Cancer Hospital, and professor of dermatology at the New York Post Graduate Medical School and Hospital.

Notes taken by Henry H. Whitehouse on lectures of Sidney I. Smith on comparative anatomy (pp. 1-24) and R. H. Chittenden on physiological chemistry (pp. 119-164) at Yale University's Sheffield Scientific School, circa 1885. Includes drawings of dissections of frogs, cats, and rabbits and microscopic observations of yeast, bacteria, and cells from skin, bone, and various organs.
