William F. Shamburger of Carroll, Miss., was born circa 1834. He received an M.D. from the Philadelphia College of Medicine in 1857. No certain additional information is available, but a W. T. Shamburger was practicing medicine in Crystal Springs, Miss., 1874-1878.
William F. Shamburger describes cynanche laryngea [acute laryngitis], its symptoms, prognosis, diagnosis, pathology, causes, and treatment, 1857. Titled "An inaugural essay on cynanche laryngea presented to the faculty of the Philadelphia College of Medicine for the degree of doctor in medicine."
Deposited as part of a larger collection by the executors of the estate of Lewis D. Harlow through Harry S. Hopper, 1896.
