This volume dates from 1920 through 1933, and contains lists of entries for the annual Alvarenga Prize essay, as well as the winner. Each entry includes the title of the essay, its "motto," the author's name, and the status - either destroyed, returned, or "won prize."
The Alvarenga Prize was establised in 1887 or 1888, when Associate Fellow Da Costa Alvarenga of lisbon, Portugal, left the College approximately $4000.00 to fund an annual prize in his name. The essay could be on any subject in the field of medicine.
