Overview and metadata sections

Ann Morris earned her Bachelor's degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1957. She later married Charles J. Aydelotte Jr.

The Ann Morris papers contain the correspondence, cards, playbills, flower day cards, etc. of Ann Morris Aydelotte, Bryn Mawr class of 1957. The collection, which ranges from 1953-1957, records Morris' active presence on campus in various social capacities and provides insight into the academics of the 1950s.

The collection is housed in five boxes, each of which contain a mixture of academic and social memorabilia from Bryn Mawr.

Box 1 contains college life memorabilia, consisting largely of correspondence, playbills, programs, and ticket stubs. It also contains some Bryn Mawr-specific memorabilia, like Morris' lizards from her freshman Hell Week, and cartoons and clippings from the College News. Box 2 contains similar materials, with the addition of notes and notebooks from Biology, Music, History of Art, and History and report cards. Box 3 contains Morris' notes from History of Art and papers for English and Philosophy classes. Box 4 contains Morris' notes from English, French, History, Italian, and Philosophy. Box 5 contains more class notes and a Self-Government exam from 1953.

Morris' collection provides a well-rounded view of the Bryn Mawr College experience in the 1950s. Morris' flower day cards would be of interest to those curious about the mutable Bryn Mawr tradition formerly known as Hell Week (now WTF Week). The Self-Government examination would also be of value to those interested in the history of SGA.

The Ann Morris Aydelotte papers were donated to Bryn Mawr College by Ann Morris Aydelotte in February, 1984.

When the collection was first processed, the following items were removed from the collection and disposed of as indicated: Finding lists (disposed); photographs (filed with photograph collection); Peter Arno New Yorker Cartoon of BMC students (cartoon file); Song Book 1959 (song books file); Commencement and baccalaureate programs (filed in with our series-- 1957 returned to donor); College News (bound in with series).
