Abstract:
This collection includes a daily journal and spiritual essays by William Lippincott and extracts on theological themes by George Dillwyn. Also included is the copy book of Edward Randolph, dated 1822, and a bound manuscript entitled The Experiences of Margret Bispham, of Mount Holly, 1769. This manuscript reflects the influence of Quakerism and spirituality on the choices of an 18th century Quaker woman.

Abstract:
Collection of family papers includes letters received by Abraham Scott, 1700-1704, a volume containing copies of letters written by George Dillwyn in relation to his wife's inheritance of part of the estate of Richard Hill, Hannah Moore, and Henry Hill, including a house in Madeira, 1799-1816, and an almanac with notations by Captain John Hollitt. Of particular interest is John Parrish's diary of his journey in the ministry from Philadelphia to Virginia in 1782. Also included are copies of letters to and from William Penn, a copy of a marriage certificate in a Quaker style between William Boin and Dido, a "negro woman" 1763, and other miscellaneous manuscripts.

Abstract:
Most of the correspondence in this collection is addressed to Henry Drinker concerning trivial and more substantive matters of his business and that of the Society of Friends, including a letter from William Savery in 1794 from Canadagua describing a visit to the Oneidas. Also included are a document from the Philadelphia Committee to Joseph Elkinton in Tunesassah (1822) and a subscription list (1831) for J.J. Foster's publication on the New Jersey Crosswicks trial, signed by Roberts Vaux and others.

Halliday Jackson Manuscripts, 1755-1833 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Halliday Jackson (1771-1835) was a Quaker minister from New Garden and Darby, Pa.. From 1798 to 1800 he joined the Quaker mission to the Seneca Indians organized by the Indian Committee of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Shortly after his return from the mission to the Seneca, Halliday Jackson married Jane Hough and moved to Darby, Pa. Following Jane's death in 1830, Halliday Jackson remarried in 1833 to Ann P. Paschall (1792-1874), also a Quaker minister. These records contain documents relating to the work of Halliday Jackson (1771-1835), Pennsylvania Quaker minister to the Seneca Nation. Includes correspondence, journals, copy work in prose and poetry, a history of the Separation of 1828, papers on Native American affairs. One journal concerns a visit to the Quakers in Ohio in 1816. The majority of the volume is composed of lists of extracts organized by topic, including topics such as: anger, affectation, old age, ambition, abstinence, religion, books, revenge, praise, sincerity, death, and temperance.
