- Carl Barus was a professor of engineering and social activist. He taught in the Engineering Department at Swarthmore College from 1952 to 1985. He was active in negotiating a resolution to the 1969 admissions office sit-in by SASS and subsequently served on the Black Concerns Committee. Contains papers on African American student concerns at Swarthmore from the SASS sit-in in 1969 to minutes and papers of the Black Concerns Committee in the 1980s.
