Overview and metadata sections
These records include the working papers of Kristen Timothy in preparation for the 1995 United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing. They contain materials that document the evolution of the Platform for Action adopted at the conference from a short statement of major campaigns for the international community to mount, drawing on the recommendations of three previous world conferences on women organized by the UN in Mexico City in 1975, Copenhagen, Denmark in 1980 and Nairobi, Kenya in 1985, to a major statement of policy goals in twelve critical areas of concern to women and girls globally.

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.
This collection was processed by Maureen Callahan on February 22, 2011. A MARC record and finding aid were created, and materials were moved into archival housing at this time.
