Thomas Jesse Battey (1842-1931) entered Haverford College in 1859 and graduated in 1863. At Haverford, Battey was a member of the Loganian Society and the Everett Society. Battey attended agricultural college after Haverford, and worked as a farmer. He taught Natural Sciences at the Moses Brown School starting in 1868. He married Augusta Heaton in 1865.
This collection consists of the "Character of the Recitations and Conduct of Thomas J. Battey" at Haverford College for the four weeks ending May 13, 1863. It records the Battey's grades in mathematics, languages, English literature, and conduct.
